Recommended Provider Qualifications

New Building Commissioning

Abbreviated

  1. Current technical knowledge and extensive recent hands-on field experience regarding:
  1. Building System Commissioning including design review, construction observation, system testing, and post-occupancy evaluations;
  2. Building system performance and interaction with a focus on the building automation control systems;
  3. Common installation, maintenance and operational pitfalls for the commissioned systems;
  4. The building design and construction process
  1. Experience troubleshooting commissioned systems
  2. Provider for at least two (2) other commissioning projects of a similar nature
  3. Good written, verbal, conflict resolution and organizational skills
  4. Excellent references and work products from similar commissioning projects
  5. Contractually, the CP should be able to provide an objective and unbiased point of view. If the CP will be from the owner or the contractor's company, they should not hold other responsibilities related to this project.

Standard

  1. Current technical knowledge and extensive recent hands-on field experience equal to that of a Professional Engineer regarding:
  1. Building System Commissioning including design review, construction observation, system testing, and post-occupancy evaluations;
  2. Building system performance and interaction with a focus on the building automation control systems;
  3. Common installation, maintenance and operational pitfalls for the commissioned systems;
  4. The building design and construction process
  1. Experience troubleshooting commissioned systems;
  2. Provider for at least four (4) other commissioning projects of a similar nature
  3. Experience in related fields, such as design, construction, and building operations
  4. Good written, verbal, conflict resolution and organizational skills
  5. Excellent references and work products from similar commissioning projects
  6. Contractually, the CP should be able to provide an objective and unbiased point of view. If the CP will be from the owner or the contractor's company, they should not hold other responsibilities related to this project.

Comprehensive

  1. Current technical knowledge and extensive recent hands-on field experience equal to that of a Professional Engineer regarding:
  1. Building System Commissioning including design review, construction observation, system testing, and post-occupancy evaluations;
  2. Building system performance and interaction with a focus on the building automation control systems;
  3. Common installation, maintenance and operational pitfalls for the commissioned systems;
  4. The building design and construction process
  1. Five years experience troubleshooting commissioned systems;
  2. CP for at least four (4) other commissioning projects of a similar nature
  3. Experience in related fields, such as design, construction, and building operations
  4. Good written, verbal, conflict resolution and organizational skills
  5. Excellent references and work products from similar commissioning projects
  6. Contractually, the CP should be able to provide an objective and unbiased point of view. Unless the owner or construction manager is particularly skilled in commissioning HVAC and electrical installations,
  7. the CxP should be an independent third party.


Existing Building Commissioning or Retrocommissioning
  1. Current technical knowledge and extensive recent hands-on field experience equal to that of a Professional Engineer regarding:
  1. Building Retrocommissioning including functional testing, diagnostics, trending, energy calculations, and implementing improvements
  2. Building system performance and interaction with a focus on the building automation control systems;
  3. Common installation, maintenance and operational pitfalls for the commissioned systems;
  1. Five years experience troubleshooting commissioned systems;
  2. CP for at least two (2) other commissioning projects of a similar nature
  3. Experience in related fields, such as design, construction, and building operations a plus
  4. Good written, verbal, and organizational skills
  5. Excellent references and work products from similar commissioning projects
